Emma Swan is a single mom who decided to move to Storybrooke, California, with her young son for a fresh start. As Henry begins to attend his new school, Emma finds herself spending a lot of time at the Jolly Roger Cafe, where doing her work as a freelance bookkeeper is way more pleasant than in her tiny apartment. She also quite enjoys the company of the owner, Killian Jones, an avid surfer who lost his left hand in a shark attack but keeps surfing at least twice a day.
