Ok, ok, this is the most wonderful shit ever and I’ve been tagged in beautiful posts and sent beyond sweet messages and I sooo wanna participate but I’m on holiday and I’ve been busy as hell recently and feel like I’m so behind with the fanfic reading. Buuuuut I can’t let this day go unmarked so this is gonna be a complete random selection of what popped into my mind and most of it is gonna be pretty old and I’m so so sorry that I can’t take the time to put each CS writer on this list cuz you fucking deserve it, you most precious beans. I finished this last night around 2am because, man, could not stop reading. This is so fucking good. I don’t even have the words to express it, seriously. I freely admit that I rarely invest in 100k+ fics and gods, I’m so glad I did in this one. It is so worth it – the characterization, the emotions, the connection, the love. This is everything and so much more than I expected when I giddily sat down to see how damn delicious DarkSwan/DeckhandJones can be. Turns out – very.
Again, I’m not a time investor (I still have a couple of longer fics by this brilliant one) but this was so addicting! Once I started going through her fic list – I could not stop. There is a sense of admiration and love you can achieve for a writer and their work only when you see how much of it they have gifted you and how damn good it all is.
The one I’ve been meaning to read forever: @spartanguard‘s A Tall Tail series. OMG. I’ve been looking at all the gorgeous art and bookmarking every single story for ages! It’s that one treat that I know will be so good and I feel like I need to have a whole weekend with the most perfect weather and food set just for it. Reading this series is the present I need to make to myself ASAP!
The hottest shit ever: to the surprise of no one that would be @this-too-too-sullied-flesh and everything that comes from under her magical hands. Honestly, the sheer quantity and quality of the most delicious and emotional CS fic you can find on her blog is staggering. (Theoretically and A Hard Man is Good to Find are particular favourites)
The most beautiful and heartwrenching: @acrobat-elle‘s Make a Wish is everything I wanted after we got old!Hook. I do not know how to express the pure emotion in this fic. I was sobbing, literally sobbing while reading this. It is the mark of a true artist. (also I simply cannot mention Elle without reminding everyone that one of her first CS fanfics Pay It Forward will own my ass until the day I turn to dust)
The softest: Listen, if you ever feel down, all you have to do is go to @captainstudmuffin‘s blog. For one, Liz is a freaking angel. For another, her fics are pure gold. And that never applies more than when she is writing about the golden days of autumn. Just go ahead and save this one for Halloween from now and also basically read everything she has ever written.
The best guilty pleasure: Basically I stalk @killian-whump and @sherlockianwhovian‘s blogs every night. Every freaking night I go digging through their tags, uncovering more and more treasure. And if you like your Killian deliciously hurt but also taken care of I cannot make you a better gift than sending you their way.
The best fix-it fics: @laschatzi makes my dreams come true!! It’s just what she does. She is the absolute freaking best at giving Killian Jones what he deserves (the world, he deserves the world, you all). You should just go to her fic tag and read everything but particular favs of mine are Trying Something New and The Past and All Its Scars – the world is a better place for having those fanfics in it.
The forever fic: My memory is shit. I love fics with my entire being and then completely forget the title or where I found them and ugh, I’m the worst. But @weezlywrites‘s a one time thing and other untruths is my forever love. It is the first fic I always think of when making a rec list, nominating fics or anything CS fanfic related. It is the ultimate love of my fanfic life. I’m pretty sure that so is everything else written by this brilliant human.
I cannot express how much I want to go on and list every piece of absolute gold fic I’ve read but this what I gotta leave you with for now. Thank you, thank you, thank you to every writer in this fandom. You deserve all the love and respect!
